Curriculum & Schedule

Mission: To develop passionate, visionary leaders to strengthen the community.

Goals:
Gain the necessary skills to be successful leaders, such as effective group management and decision making, conflict resolution, change, listening, problem solving, communications, working in teams and asset building.

Gain a deep understanding of Tuscarawas County and its challenges and opportunities. Develop an awareness of diverse institutions working in Tuscarawas County to improve health, human services, education, economic and community development, tourism, the judicial system, and issues in the area.

Develop networks among themselves and with other local leaders that will help them in their leadership roles.

Create an environment in which participants are motivated to develop a sense of community trusteeship and encouraged to assume leadership roles in community affairs.


Program Schedule

An afternoon orientation held in Augus:

A Bus Tour of the County


A Retreat:
This retreat serves as an introduction to the year's program, to various techniques, and to the purpose and operation of Leadership Tuscarawas. Through a series of team building, group exercises, participants will explore interpersonal feelings, and other aspects of face-to-face communication in order to develop strategies for more effective leadership. They will also take a Personal Profile Assessment to help them better undertand their leadership style and how to understand and work better with those around them. The evening ends with a dinner including alumni and board members.

Overview of Skills
Overview of Issues

Graduation: The graduation will serve as a review and culmination of Leadership Tuscarawas. Groups will report their findings and participants will discuss future trends in economics, business, and demographics. A graduation ceremony and reception will serve as the successful completion of the Leadership Tuscarawas.

After Graduation:
The leadership experience does not end with graduation, it is just the beginning. Graduates of Leadership Tuscarawas become members of a pool of leaders that will serve our region. In addition to being tapped for boards, task forces, and committees in the community, they spearhead initiatives and foster participation and support for community change. They will provide creative problem solving assistance to organizations and institutions and join with others to create positive change in the Tuscarawas Valley.
